Overview
"Chipmunks is the ultimate jungle gym for your kids – and it’s located right here in Christchurch!
Do your children have too much energy for their own good? Well, Chipmunks is the place for you.
It’s an interactive, challenging and safe environment for your kids to let loose and work off some of that energy in a fun environment! Chipmunks is for children ages 0 - 11 years.
We have dedicated age zones and soft play areas for age-appropriate activity (including the baby/toddler zone for ages 0 - 4). The café is on-site and in view of the playground, so you can watch your children while they play, and you take some time out from your busy schedule.
We also provide birthday packages that are stress-free and affordable.
Use a party room or hire out the whole venue for exclusive access after hours. We help to play the day away, cater, and our friendly staff will host the event. You just turn up and enjoy!"
Session Information:
Chipmunks Playland & Café is exclusively designed and constructed for children (ages 0 - 11 years).
Children must be supervised at all times. Parents or guardians must remain on the premises while their children are playing and cannot leave them unattended.
All children and supervisors using the play equipment must wear socks at all times for health and safety reasons. Socks are available to purchase.
As we have our own café facilities, we do not allow outside food and drink to be brought into our premises for health and safety reasons. Birthday cakes used during a booked birthday party are an exception.
Notes for Cardholders
We are used to having people with disabilities at Chipmunks. If you have any specific needs, please give our friendly staff a phone call beforehand to work with you in creating the best experience for you and/or your group.
We also realise that having a disability often means extra living expenses and not having so much free cash, so we offer discounted rates:
20% off the entry fee on weekdays (excluding school and public holidays)
10% off the entry fee on weekends and school holidays
For cardholders with the "+1" icon, we are happy to offer your Essential Companion free entry.
Standing and Queuing
The queue is never particularly an issue at the centre.
Level Access
The café and the party rooms are wheelchair accessible. The ground floor level of the main children’s playground is wheelchair accessible; however, there is no lift to the upper level. Access to the slide is solely via stairs.
Although the toddler section is less wheelchair accessible, it is a safe environment for kids who potentially have minimal mobility to explore without a wheelchair. If you are above toddler age (over 4 years of age) but would like to use this space, please speak with a staff member to discuss, as it may work on a case-by-case basis.
Distances
There are accessible carpark spaces directly out front, and there are plenty of carpark spaces outside the building. If you are travelling to the venue by bus, please note that there is a few minutes' walk from the bus stop to the venue's driveway, but the length of the driveway that leads to the Chipmunks Playland & Café building is extremely long.
Urgent Toilet Access
Access to the toilets is near the playground and café - they are wheelchair accessible. If you need a space at a table nearby to the toilet access, that should be simple to arrange.
Disability Assist Dogs
Assistance dogs are permitted and loved! However, we do not allow assistance dogs on the playground or equipment as this may cause safety risks and property damage. Additionally, other kids on the equipment may not get along with animals!

For cardholders with the "+1" icon, we are happy to offer your Essential Companion free entry.
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information
The centre staff are used to assisting people who have difficulty accessing visual information to understand the centre and the facilities.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information
The staff members at the centre are used to assisting people who have difficulty accessing audible information about the centre and the facilities. They will talk to the parents and ask for assistance if there is an issue communicating with a child.
