All maps and directional signage shows the location of toilet blocks, and every precinct in the zoo will have at least one block of toilets. Every permanent café (excluding Korimako café) has a toilet block located next to or within the café.
Disability Assist Dogs

We allow assistance dogs but require a copy of the vaccination records for our vets as we are a quarantine facility. Certain areas are restricted due to animals being sensitive to assistance dogs, and we will provide a map and route for you to follow that will allow you to enjoy the zoo while avoiding these areas.
Essential Companions

Difficulty Accessing Visual Information

We have volunteers to assist with information throughout the zoo, and many of our signage uses symbology and images as well as text. Information relating to the animals and exhibits are available online through our website in video form, and text form for screen readers. Announcements are made audibly over the PA system for impromptu encounters.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information

We use a lot of visual information in our signage, and have computers and paper at all of our front of house areas to allow for non-verbal communication.
Hidden Disabilities

We have a full team of first aid officers at the zoo, who are trained to help with everything from someone who may have overexerted themselves, to extreme events such as heart attacks, seizures, and people collapsing. The Zoo is a large area (40ha) but all staff have radios and so can communicate across the zoo to coordinate any assistance you might need. We have a sensory map to guide people who are sensitive to sounds, smells, and crowds so they can prepare or avoid different stimuli throughout the zoo.
