Overview
Centrepoint Theatre is the only professional production house in New Zealand to operate outside the four main centres of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. Centrepoint Theatre produces five or more shows per year between February and December. The Manawatu theatre plays a vital role in growing New Zealand's theatre community by creating work for professional actors, designers and technicians. Several New Zealand plays that premiered at Centrepoint have gone on to successful runs in theatres across the country. Located just a short walk from Distinction Palmerston North Hotel enjoy a great night out with friends, family, clients or colleagues watching some of the best theatre in the country.

Standing and Queuing

If you are unable to queue, wave your card at one of our team and we will bring you to the front of the queue and serve you there.
Level Access

Our main entrance has a ramp and all amenities along with the theatre auditorium are on the same level. The Theatre is wheelchair friendly including access to the bar and bathrooms. Wheelchair seating is available just let us know beforehand to ensure space is reserved for any one attending with you. Mobility parking is located at the front of the venue on Church Street. Parking cannot be reserved in advance. If you have a specific seating request, e-mail Box Office or call (06) 354 5740.

Our building is not large and there is plenty of seating throughout that you are welcome to use. Our accessible parking is directly in front of the theatre, along with space for pick up and drop off.
Urgent Toilet Access

We have one accessible toilets and 3 amount of standard toilets. If you present this icon to us we will ensure you are next to use the toilet in a discrete way.
Disability Assist Dogs

We comply with the NZ law with respect to Disability Assistance Dogs. The staff will offer you water for your dog and will indicate the nearest place for the dog to relieve itself. Our staff are happy to supervise patrons Disability Assist Dog during performances. We can also accommodate dogs sitting in the auditorium for certain performances.
Essential Companions

We offer the Palmy Companion card discount. Patrons can request this through the Palmerston North City Council. Alternatively patrons can pay for their companion to attend.
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information

Through the Training, the staff are well-informed about adapting their communication and assisting individuals who are blind or have low vision. They can help assist you to a seat and guide you to the theatre / toilet if required. Our accessible seating are all near the stage for optimum visibility.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information

Through the training that the staff have done with the Hāpai Access Card, they are aware of how they can modify how they communicate with you. This includes making sure you can see their face when speaking, speaking clearly, use of pen and paper and being patient. The staff are aware of the NZ Relay service, so please use this if you think it appropriate when ringing if needed. Our accessible seating are all near the stage for optimum visibility and sound.
Hidden Disabilities

Through the staff's training, they are generally aware of hidden disabilities. Please speak to them about how they can assist in making your time with us great. Our foyer is a quiet space throughout all theatrical performances and will always be staffed.
