Overview
COSYCAR: A Driving Service with an Extra Dimension.
COSYCAR is a door-to-door driving companion service. We specialise in providing transportation for older people and individuals with special needs. Our mission is to help you stay connected to the community by providing safe, reliable and caring transportation. We're here to make every step of your journey as smooth and reassuring as possible. We provide companionship and can accompany you to your appointment if you need extra support.
With care and always with a smile, we'll offer you a personalised service to suit your needs.
For your peace of mind, we are vetted by the NZ Police; we hold a First Aid certificate and a Passenger Licence with the NZ Transport Agency.
Notes for Cardholders
COSYCAR accepts Total Mobility Scheme Cards, which give cardholders a 75% discount on their fare.
Standing and Queuing
COSYCAR recognises that some of you may need help to queue or stand; we prioritise your comfort by taking you directly to the entrance of your destination or making prior arrangements to ensure convenient, priority access. We accompany you to your appointments, ensuring you have a seat in the reception area to wait comfortably. We can accommodate your walker in our car, ensuring convenience and accessibility for your journey.
Level Access
While we don't have an accessible vehicle, we can accommodate a wheelchair if you can transfer from your wheelchair to the passenger seat. We have completed Unit Standards Certificates 1748 - Transport passengers with impairments or disabilities, and 15165 - Transport passengers in wheelchairs, enhancing our understanding of our clients' specific needs.
Distances
As your local companion service, we efficiently manage distances to ensure you are taken directly to the door of your destination. We’re here to make every step of your journey as smooth and reassuring as possible.
Urgent Toilet Access
We are local and have excellent knowledge of accessible and convenient restroom facilities in Palmerston North.
Disability Assist Dogs
COSYCAR is dog-friendly, and disability assistance dogs are always invited to ride comfortably at their owner’s feet.
Essential Companions
At COSYCAR, an Essential Companion is always welcome to accompany you, with no additional cost at all.
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information
We assist visually impaired clients by guiding them safely to and from the vehicle and helping them check in at appointments or navigate unfamiliar locations. We offer personalised support to make every journey smooth and stress-free.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information
COSYCAR's owner and driver Pauline has been studying sign language for three years. While she's far from being fluent in NZSL, she loves expanding her vocabulary by learning new signs from her deaf clients to improve communication.
