Overview
In 2016, after two and a half years of designing, building, and testing, the 8-zipline canopy tour first opened to the public on Labour Weekend 2019. The zipline provides a low-impact and environmentally friendly way for visitors to be immersed in the native forest, learn about the history of the land, and engage with conservation issues and positive initiatives. Continuing the legacy of surveying and engineering challenges from the railway, the zipline also faced a number of challenges, including crossing large gullies six times, building two platforms in trees up to 25 metres high, and constructing two platforms on poles—all while returning to the village area.

Standing and Queuing

For queues, we have two points of sale where we can assist you with purchasing a Coromandel Zipline Tour and checking in on busy days. There are seats throughout Driving Creek to rest at, including a bench seat halfway through the zipline course for those who have difficulty standing. It is always best to let us know when you make your booking if you have difficulty with standing and/or queuing so we can draft a map highlighting appropriate seating areas along the zipline course, and/or prepare our staff to greet you and bring you to the front of the queue if needed.
Level Access

Unfortunately the zipline is not wheelchair accessible.
Distances

For those who have difficulty crossing distances, our accessible car park is located approximately 30m from our ticketing office. Our customer service staff may allow visitors to drive up to the ticketing office for drop-offs and pick-ups if necessary on the day, depending on accessible parking availability. This option is available if other accessible parking options are not suitable, so please let us know during your booking if you require this assistance. Seating is available where we gear everyone up for the zipline, and there is also a bench seat halfway through the zipline course for those who may have difficulty crossing longer distances.
Urgent Toilet Access

We have two sets of toilet facilities onsite: a flushable toilet located approximately 30 metres from the ticketing office, and a composting toilet located halfway through the zipline course. In addition, there is an emergency composting toilet (Hoki Mai) situated about a quarter of the way up the course, accessible via a short hike. This option is available if needed during your visit. Please let us know at the time of booking if you require this service, so your guides can direct you to the nearest toilet at any given time.
Disability Assist Dogs

All our information on our Zipline Tours and safety briefings is delivered verbally. For those who may have difficulty with visual information, our Zipline Guides will slowly talk you through each step throughout the course and gently position your body for the best departure and arrival at each platform. Please ask our friendly customer service staff if you require assistance. Any demonstrations our guides provide can also be explained verbally.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information

We have visual information pamphlets available for you at check-in. We also offer Driving Creek Railway & Potteries: The Unique World of Barry Brickell—a subtitled movie that introduces you to the amazing work done at Driving Creek Railway—as well as interpretation panels along the zipline course for you to observe. If you have difficulty processing audible information, we recommend allowing 20–30 minutes before your tour to watch the movie carefully.
Hidden Disabilities

All Driving Creek staff are first aid trained and can assist with anything from someone who may have overexerted themselves to extreme events such as heart attacks, seizures, and people collapsing. Driving Creek is a 24-hectare area where all staff carry radios and can communicate throughout the property to coordinate any assistance you might need. We kindly ask that you let us know during your booking if relevant needs are not visible or are likely hidden, so Driving Creek staff can draft a sensory map to guide people who are sensitive to sounds, smells, and crowds, helping them prepare for or avoid different stimuli throughout the Driving Creek experience.
