Overview
The National Aquarium of New Zealand is one of Hawke’s Bay’s premier tourist attractions, located on the oceanfront along Napier’s Marine Parade. We build connections to the environment and educate about how to protect our biodiversity through conservation. Our point of difference is our advocacy work for native New Zealand species that inhabit our mountains, forests, and seas. We are one of the few places where visitors can see New Zealand Kiwi up close as part of our participation in the national Kiwi Breeding Programme, and we are also home to Alfie the Tuatara, who is over 40 years old. We are a Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre for Little Penguins, offering opportunities to feed the penguins that cannot be released back into the wild and now call the National Aquarium home. We have a variety of offerings to suit all budgets and itineraries. Customers can choose from conservation sessions, daily guided tours, feeding encounters, or general admission.
