Overview
Punting on the Avon is Christchurch's iconic river tour and one of the city's most loved attractions. Sink back into the seats of your punt, relax and let your thoughts drift away as you travel slowly along the river propelled by a skilled punter in Edwardian attire. Take in the stunning scenery of the Botanic Gardens, get up close to the river's wildlife and listen to the thoughtful commentary from your punter. This eco-friendly attraction is a luxurious way to see the city from a new perspective. The 30-minute tour departs from and ends at the historic Antigua Boat Sheds in the central city. Perfect for all ages, this blissful activity is not to be missed by locals or visitors.

There is a small lip at the building entrance, and our staff are happy to assist if needed. Wheelchair access is available down to the boats; however, for safety and space reasons, we are unable to take wheelchairs on board.

Dogs are welcome in our venue. Accepted proof of registration includes either the visitor’s Hāpai Access Card displaying the icon above or valid registration documentation, along with the dog wearing its official service jacket (coat, vest, or harness).

Our staff offers to guide cardholders to their seats and tell cardholders how to seek help verbally as well as provide safety briefings while holding signs.

Our staff will provide verbal safety briefings while holding a sign with written instructions. Our staff will provide verbal instructions to passengers during the trip. As well as providing pens and paper on the table for communication if needed.
