Standing and Queuing
Please present your Hāpai card to our staff and take a seat. Our staff will assist you at your seat.
Level Access
Most of our business is wheelchair accessible. However, please note that our Great Maze (with stairs) and one of our six Illusion Rooms (set at a 15-degree angle) are not wheelchair accessible. All other areas, including five of the six Illusion Rooms, the Puzzle Centre, and the Roman Loos, should pose no significant issues.
Distances
Our building is large, however, there is plenty of seating throughout that you are welcome to use.
Urgent Toilet Access
We have four accessible toilets and eight standard toilets. If you show us this icon, we will discreetly direct you to the nearest toilet.
Disability Assist Dogs
We comply with the NZ law with respect to Disability Assistance Dogs. The staff will offer you water for your dog and will indicate the nearest place for the dog to relieve itself.
Essential Companions
Cardholders with this icon are eligible for a free companion ticket. No booking is required—simply present your card (with this icon) upon arrival.
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information
The illusion rooms require a fairly high level of vision to enjoy and the Great Maze includes many stairs to negotiate. It is best managed by having at least one member in the group with strong eyesight. Our staff will explain the layout, point out any hazards, and are happy to help in any way they can.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information
Since most of our attraction is primarily visual and tactile, hearing impairment does not significantly impact the visitor's experience.
Our staff can provide written entry leaflets in many languages to help describe the attraction upon arrival. They will also communicate effectively by ensuring you can see their face while speaking, speaking clearly, using pen and paper if needed, and being patient.
Hidden Disabilities
Through the staff's training, they are generally aware of hidden disabilities. Please speak to them about how they can assist in making your time with us extraordinary.
