Overview
"The “Salt on the Pier” Cafe caters for all, a scrumptious Brunch and Lunch menus are available as well as our gourmet deli cabinet which locals confess to being the best in town.
All this inclusive of being fully licensed providing an extensive list of, beer wine and spirits, non-alcoholic beverages such as milkshakes and smoothies to cater for all ages and tastes.

Notes for Cardholders
Standing and Queuing
If you struggle with queueing please wave your card at one of our team, we will ensure that you are served promptly by taking you to nearby seating and serving you there.
Level Access
We have a lift which gives level access to our café, library, toilets and can help get to the restaurant (only within café hours). To access our Restaurant we have the main library entrance which has a normal elevator which can be used to get from the ground floor to the top floor.
Distances
There is a carpark located a short distance from our café that includes 2 accessible car park spots (note this may not always be empty), also there is a bus stop located just 50m up on Oram Avenue.
Urgent Toilet Access
When at our café there is a public toilet that has an accessible toilet, there is a female and male toilet that is connected to our café for easy access. If dining in our restaurant we have 2 private toilets for customers, our restaurant toilets are both just standard toilets.
Disability Assist Dogs
We are happy to comply with the NZ law with respect to disability assistance dogs, the staff will offer you water for your dog and indicate where the nearest place is for it to relieve itself.
Essential Companions
Companions are welcome to come with the cardholder and it is not expected that they must order anything from the menu.
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information
Our menus and the cabinet food names are written in text, if you need assistance we are happy to read our menu aloud. We are able to guide you to your table or the toilets if you require.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information
None of our staff can communicate through sign language but we are happy to take the time to take orders and get you what you want. We will do this by speaking clearly, use of pencil and paper, and being patient.
Hidden Disabilities
Through the training the staff have done we are generally aware of hidden disabilities, If we see you with this icon we will ask how we can best assist you to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. For example, We have music which can be lowered for you and also we have a nice outside area to get away from the noise.
