Overview

St Clair Pool is an outdoor heated saltwater pool located on a beautiful site at the southern end of St Clair Beach. It is the only surviving saltwater pool of several that existed in Dunedin in the late 1800s. Its wonderful beachfront location makes it a highly enjoyable swimming experience. The pool is particularly suitable for those who enjoy swimming in salt water but may not wish to venture into the cooler ocean water. The pool is heated to 28 degrees Celsius and contains a mixture of saltwater and chlorinated water. The pool was upgraded in 2000/2001 and now features a paddling pool for toddlers, new changing facilities, a disabled changing area, and an office building that provides shelter from the weather. A café operates year-round at the facility. The pool is open daily from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Notes for Cardholders

$3 per person for 7 days - carers free

The hoist is available free of charge but must be booked in advance.

Standing and Queuing

There is seating available in the café area, poolside, and in the changing rooms.

Level Access

Level access through automatic doors, followed by a ramp onto the poolside.

Distances

There is one accessible parking space located 200 metres from the front entrance. If this distance is difficult to manage, you may wish to arrange assistance from a carer or use a mobility aid, such as a wheelchair. Our small team may have limited availability to provide assistance in this area, so we recommend planning any support you may need in advance.

Urgent Toilet Access

Toilets are available in the male, female, and accessible changing rooms.

Disability Assist Dogs

We comply with the New Zealand law regarding Disability Assist dogs. All registered Disability Assist dogs are permitted entry to the business venue. Accepted proof of registration could be presentation of the visitor's Hāpai Access Card displaying the icon shown above OR presentation of registration documentation plus the dog is dressed wearing its relevant service jacket (coat/vest/harness).
