Overview
Welcome to Taiora QEII. Come relax, have fun and exercise with us!
With a lane pool, hydroslide, hydrotherapy pool, leisure pool, lazy river, sauna, steam room and
spa pool we have something for everyone.
Prefer to work out in the gym? We have a fully equipped gym and group fitness classes so you can
improve your fitness and work on your wellbeing.
Notes for Cardholders
Hāpai cardholders receive our discounted entry rates such as 50% off casual entry into the pool.

Standing and Queuing
We have 10 accessible carparks opposite the main entrance (30 metres to the door).
If staff see the card/lanyard or you appear to be struggling, they’ll ask you to come to the front of the queue or direct you to available seating.
Wheelchairs, including wet wheelchairs, are available.
Level Access
We have 10 accessible carparks opposite the main entrance (30 metres to the door).
The entrance area is a low-gradient ramp. The doors (except doors to changing
rooms) have sensors and open automatically.
Reception 2 has lowered desk areas.
Poolside
There’s ramp access to the lap pool, learn to swim pool, toddler pool, leisure pool and spa pool.
The entrance to the steam room and sauna rooms is flat. Ask staff if you need assistance with the door.
Wet wheelchairs are available beside the pool.
We have two accessible changing rooms in the changing area on the way to the pool. Each has an adjustable bed, toilet, shower and hoist. Please bring your own slings for the hoist, they are not available to hire.
The accessible toilet near the toddlers pool has a handrail and an emergency help button.
Your wheelchair can be left outside the accessible change area. Your scooter/walking frame can be
left poolside if it doesn’t block a pathway or emergency exit. Lifeguards can help you with your equipment when you’re ready to leave the pool.
Dryside
The gym has an entrance gate and double doors. Ask staff if you need help.
There’s an accessible toilet in the main foyer with a handrail and emergency help button.
The Taiwhatiwhati Room and Pioke Room are accessible. Ask staff if you need help with the doors.
There’s an accessible change room past the gym near the group fitness room. It has a shower, a toilet and a bench.
Distances

Urgent Toilet Access
We have accessible and public toilets. They are well signposted and open to the public.
Disability Assist Dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome and can wait beside the pool. Speak to a lifeguard if you have any
queries or you need help.
There’s a grass area near the front entrance.
Essential Companions
Your support person has free access to the activity you are attending.
Your support person’s role is to help with communication and any personal care, help you through
the facility and support you in an emergency. They can help you in the pool if required or actively
monitor from the side.
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information
Staff are able to help you to read signs and other information and can guide you to different areas,
including toilets, doorways, and help you negotiate any hazards.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information
Staff will communicate clearly with you, moving to a quieter area if necessary. Let staff know if
writing information for you to read could help.
There is a hearing loop available at Taiora QEII.
Hidden Disabilities
Staff will ask if there is any way we can help you during your visit. We’ll follow your lead to make
sure you have the best possible experience.
