Overview
In pure luxury on our sailing catamaran Tiua or in comfort and style on our classic sailing yacht Fearless, experience the best way to explore Lake Taupo with a scenic sailing tour to the Māori Rock Carvings or a private charter. Notes for Cardholders
Anyone who requires a support person will receive a free support person ticket if they are a Hāpai Card holder with the +1 support person icon. All Hāpai Card holders are also eligible for a 10% discount.
Bookings are essential and must be made by phone or can be inquired via email.
Standing and Queuing
For queues, we can board you first and you can choose your preferred seat on the sailing boat. During a busy day, space on the boat can be limited, and you might be seated close to other customers.
There are seats in front of the boat berth and nearby under the trees where you can sit and wait until boarding time or until a staff member is available.
It is always best to let us know when you make your booking if you have difficulty standing and/or queuing, so we can plan your boarding and seating on board, and/or prepare our staff to greet you and bring you to the front of the queue if needed.
Level Access
Only our sailing catamaran Tiua is accessible for wheelchairs (non-electric, travel wheelchairs only). We have a ramp available on request to assist you in boarding the vessel. You will need to be lifted by staff into the cockpit area.
Distances
Accessible parking spaces are available at Taupō Marina, close to the berth of the boat where we will be boarding. The closest car parks are just 2 metres from the boarding point.
There are no wheelchairs available on board.
Urgent Toilet Access
There are three toilets available on board our sailing catamaran Tiua and one toilet on our classic sailing yacht Fearless. All of these toilets are marine toilets. All toilets are unisex and for customer use only. They are accessible at all times during the sailing tour.
Disability Assist Dogs
We comply with New Zealand law regarding disability assist dogs. All registered disability assist dogs are permitted entry to the business venue. Accepted proof of registration may include presentation of the visitor’s Hāpai Access Card displaying the icon shown above, OR presentation of registration documentation, and the dog wearing its relevant service jacket (coat/vest/harness).

Anyone who requires support to visit Taupo Sailing Adventures will receive a free support person ticket. Bookings are essential and must be made by phone, so please let us know if you require this assistance.
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information
All our information on our sailing tours and safety briefings is delivered verbally. We can offer a seat close to the skipper or crew for anyone with difficulty in processing visual information.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information
We have visual information (qr code or pamphlet) available on board and pen and paper ready for use.
Hidden Disabilities
All skippers at Taupō Sailing Adventures are first aid trained. Both boats have radios, and the crew can communicate with the Coastguard throughout the trip to coordinate any help if needed.
We kindly ask that you let us know during your booking if any relevant needs are not visible or may be hidden, so our staff can be prepared to support guests who are sensitive to sounds and crowds, helping them prepare for or avoid different stimuli throughout the sailing experience. We have cabins that can be made available if a quiet space or a place to lie down is needed.
