Overview
Te Iwitahi is the first point of contact for customers accessing Council Services (including rate payments, dog registrations, infringements, building permits etc.)

Standing and Queuing

Seating is available if needed.
Level Access

No restrictions for disability access - One counter set up for wheelchair access
Distances

Disability parking is available close to the entrance for your convenience.
Urgent Toilet Access

Ground-level access is available for the disability toilet facility.
Disability Assist Dogs

We comply with New Zealand law regarding disability assist dogs. All registered disability assist dogs are permitted entry into our premise. Customer service staff can provide a water bowl for your dog and direct you to a place where your dog can relieve themselves upon request.
Essential Companions

Essential companions are welcome to accompany you.
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information

Through the Training, the staff are well-informed about adapting their communication and assisting individuals who are blind or have low vision. They can guide you to a seat if needed and will explain everything clearly and verbally to ensure you feel informed and supported.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information

Through the training staff have received with the Hāpai Access Card, they are aware of how to communicate effectively with you. This includes ensuring you can see their face when speaking, speaking clearly, using pen and paper, and being patient.
Hidden Disabilities

Through the staff's training, they are generally aware of hidden disabilities. Please speak to them about how they can assist you.
Meeting rooms and quiet pods are available for your use. Please feel free to ask our staff if you need assistance accessing them.
