The Te Pae Christchurch Administration office is open from 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. The Centre's opening hours are event dependant. Please check with your event organiser.
Overview
"Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is New Zealand's premier international venue, designed as Ōtautahi Christchurch’s ‘gathering place’. Located in the heart of Christchurch city, Te Pae Christchurch has been architectually designed and purpose-built to respond to a full range of event requirements. Featuring an array of modern, flexible spaces, including 24 meeting rooms, 1,400 seat auditorium, 200 booth exhibition hall, riverside banquet room, VIP spaces and organiser offices, the Centre is suitable for a wide range of events.
Perfectly positioned next to the Avon river in the central city, just 20 minutes drive from Christchurch International Airport, Te Pae Christchurch is within walking distance of more than 2,500 hotel rooms and many of Christchurch’s best restaurants, bars, galleries, attractions and markets.

Notes for Cardholders
Standing and Queuing
Should you have difficulty standing or queing, and you are waiting to enter the venue, please speak to one of our Security team at the entrance and we will endeavour to get you into the building and to a seat as soon as possible. If you are waiting to register or check-in, please speak to one of our Guest Assistants and they wil be able to assist with seating in the foyers.
Level Access
"Our property is walker/wheelchair friendly, with step-free access into the Centre. There are drop off points located close to all entrances. Once in the Centre, lift access is available to all areas, including Level One (and side of stage). We have dedicated wheelchair seating in our Auditorium.
We also have two wheelchairs available for guest use. These can be arranged in advance or on the day with our Guest Assistant team. An evacuation chair is available in the unlikely event of evacuation. "
Distances
Te Pae Christchurch is a large building. If you have difficulty with distances, please let a member of our team know and they will endeavour to assist. We have two wheelchairs available for guest use. These can be arranged in advance or on the day with our Guest Assistant team.
Urgent Toilet Access
For customers that may need urgent access to the toilet, our Guest Assistants will orientate you with the location of the facilities when you arrive, and advise the best bathroom location for your event. Both standard and accessible bathrooms are available throughout the Centre. Accessible bathrooms have automatic button access. If you require urgent access, and there are queues on your level, please let our team know and they will direct you to the closest available toilets.
Disability Assist Dogs
Te Pae Christchurch welcomes assistance dogs to accompany their owner into our facility. If your dog is thirsty, please let us know and we can provide a bowl of water. Dogs that are not trained as assistance dogs are not permitted in the facility to prevent interference with assistance dogs. There is green space nearby for your dog's relief.
Essential Companions
We are pleased to offer a complimentary +1 ticket for essential companions of Hāpai Card holders for live events ticketed through Ticketek. For conferences or dinners, please speak to your event organiser. Please note that complimentary +1 access needs to be arranged prior to your event.
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information
Our team will be happy to assist with verbal information regarding our facilities.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information
Te Pae Christchurch is equipped with hearing loops in the Auditorium and meeting rooms. For more information please speak to one of our Guest Assistants. Our team is also able to provide key infomation in written form, or can offer you pen and paper and communicate with you through writing and reading if required. We have several quieter areas in the facility that you can utilise if it is easier for you to process audible information in a less busy atmosphere.
