Overview
At the heart of Papa Hou is a 250-seat Black Box Theatre and multi-purpose spaces. In addition to corporate bookings, we have a vision to provide non-profit amateur performers across a range of artistic genres, the opportunity to perform in a fit-for-purpose space, otherwise not available to them in the central city.

Standing and Queuing
Please take a seat, and our front-of-house (FOH) staff is here to assist anyone who needs help.
Level Access
Our building has level access throughout, including 2 lifts to theatre entrance at level 1. One accessible parking is located at Cashel Street. The best entrance is our main entrance.
Distances
Our building is not large and there are plenty of seats throughout that you are welcome to use. Our accessible parking is 50m away.
Urgent Toilet Access
We have five accessible toilets and six standard toilets. If you present this icon to us we will ensure you are next to use the toilet in a discrete way.
Disability Assist Dogs
We comply with the NZ law with respect to Disability Assistance Dogs. The staff will offer you water for your dog and will indicate the nearest place for the dog to relieve itself.
Essential Companions
Additional tickets for the Essential Companion are at the venue hirer's discretion.
Difficulty Accessing Visual Information
Through the Training, the staff are well-informed about adapting their communication and assisting individuals who are blind or have low vision. They can help you with the Bar menu, Assist you to a seat and guide you to the theatre / Toilet if required.
Difficulty Accessing Audible Information
Through the training that the staff have done with the Hāpai Access Card, they are aware of how they can modify how they communicate with you. This includes making sure you can see their face when speaking, speaking clearly, use of pen and paper and being patient. The staff are aware of the NZ Relay service, so if needed, please use this when you think it appropriate.
Hidden Disabilities
Through the staff's training, they are generally aware of hidden disabilities. Please speak to them about how they can assist in making your time with us great.
